Born into a dental family, Marie-Catherine loved going to visit her father at his Periodontics practice in Calgary. Setting out to find a career of her own, she completed a Bachelor of Science with honours in Biology in Nova Scotia while also expanding her creativity through music and art. Marie-Catherine came to realize that dentistry offered a great balance between science, art, and human connection. She returned to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at the University of Alberta, where she earned several awards and helped organize community outreach programs.
Upon graduation, Marie-Catherine practiced general dentistry in Cochrane where she really enjoyed the family aspect of dentistry. She also has ongoing weekly mentorship from her father in comprehensive care, surgery, and dental implants at his clinic in Calgary. Marie-Catherine continues to attend conferences and courses, staying up to date with the latest theory and technology.
Wanting to be closer to home in Calgary, Marie-Catherine is thrilled to work with Dr. Kellen Smith at Welcome Smile Dental. She strives for a patient centered approach to dental care and empowers her patients to make well-informed decisions about their health. Like Dr. Smith, she wants her patients to feel comfortable in the chair, whether that’s by communicating in French or in humor, she finds ways to connect with her patients beyond their teeth.
In her spare time, Marie-Catherine likes to tour Calgary’s amazing bicycle paths and golf courses. She also loves a mountain road trip to go skiing or hiking with her friends. On cold winter nights, she can be found at an open mic singing and playing her guitar as a singer-songwriter.
