Dr. Kellen Smith was intrigued by dentistry since he was introduced to it while both his brother and sister-in-law were attending dental school. He discovered that what they were learning was extremely interesting to him and also appealed to his aesthetic sensibilities. Based on this, he left home in Calgary to enroll in the Dental Program at the University of Alberta.
After Kellen graduated from the University of Alberta in 2006 with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree, he returned to his native Calgary to pursue his passion for dentistry. He joined Dr. Carl Boyko as an associate at Welcome Smile Dental. Under Carl’s mentorship, Kellen learned an immense amount about both the practice – as well as the business side – of dentistry. When Carl retired from the practice in 2012, Kellen took over the practice and has now made Welcome Smile his own.
Kellen is especially known for making people feel calm and at ease during their visits. His personable nature and considerate approach to dentistry are only furthered by his clear and understandable explanations as to your treatment options.
Kellen is always striving to learn more and enjoys all aspects of the ever-changing dental technology. His passion for dentistry is only equaled by his ongoing involvement in the dental and local community. As past President of the Calgary and District Dental Society, he is well known in the local Calgary Dental community. He is continually involved in local fundraising events and community activities for many worthy causes, including the ‘Toothfairy Children’s Foundation.’
